SHIZUKA HARIU
Dr. Shizuka Hariu, a visionary scenographer, seamlessly merges design and architecture to leave an indelible mark on global stages. Her notable works include the opera Super Angels in Tokyo, the opera Written on Skin at Suntory Hall, and Sacred Monsters at Sadler’s Wells, Dark with Excessive Bright for Robert Binet at the Royal Ballet. Recently, she designs for the theatrical adaptation of the film Dekalog by Krzysztof Kieślowski at the New National Theatre Tokyo for all ten stories. Her exceptional talent has earned her prestigious accolades, including two Bronze Medals at World Stage Design in 2022 and 2017, the Japan Space Design Award, the D&AD Award, among many others.
As the co-director of SHSH Architecture + Scenography, Shizuka is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of design. Her commitment to innovation and excellence makes her an invaluable partner for opera, ballet, and theatre productions seeking to captivate audiences with groundbreaking and immersive experiences.
